The Institute of Animal Science of the University Bonn has special expertise in the fields of intake and digestion by non-ruminant herbivores including zoo animals and by ruminants. A major research activity deals with effects of enzymatic, chemical and microbial silage additives on the ensiling dynamics and on the stability of silages. Being a major path for nutrient and energy losses in the PROGRASS concept, silage quality will be crucial for the overall eco-nomic success of the concept.
